Somehow my house managed to escape relatively unscathed from the tornadoes last weekend. I watched the storms approach on my phone, and my house fortuitously sat in a gap as they neared Raleigh. Still, I was worried. I wasn’t even at home! I was enjoying some Cuban food and Cuban coffee in Cary when the tornadoes hit. Thus, I elected to ride out the storms in the Cuban restaurant. When I finally made it home, I saw the following:
This is not a mere branch. It’s the whole top of the poor maple tree. I’m just glad it fell away from the house instead of directly onto our roof!
You can see where it snapped in the above photo. Oh well. I consider myself fortunate. The downed portion of the tree will become firewood. Now I have to get an arborist to look at the remainder of the maple and see if it can be saved or if it needs to come down too.
I’m in the depths of hell: a.k.a. seasonal allergies. There is a yellow haze in the air, and the only one happy about it right now is this little guy:
He is undoubtedly in pollen heaven. I, on the other hand, am unable to see or think straight, so that’s it for today’s post. Hopefully, I’ll feel better tomorrow once the medication starts working. Right now I’m too busy dreaming about a beach house. I long for some salty ocean air to help clear my poor sinuses! It doesn’t even have to be a fancy beach house. Even a beach shack sounds good right about now:
I can work with that. I could spend the next couple of months there, no problem.
