Today is Earth Day, and it’s also the first day of the nationwide Cash-for-Appliances program. If you have an old, inefficient appliance, you can trade it in and get an instant rebate from your state between April 22nd and April 24th. In addition, Sears is having a huge sale on many Energy-Star rated appliances, which means some items could be as much as 45% savings in North Carolina because our rebate is 15% and the Sears’ sale is 30% off. Woo-hoo! Head over to Sears.com to see what the rebates are in your state.
This evening I’ll be heading to my local Sears to buy either a Bosch or KitchenAid Stainless Steel Dishwasher. My circa 1993 GE PotScrubber Special is on its last legs. It makes a funky grinding noise whenever I run it, and I know it can’t be as efficient as newer models which allow you to do half-loads. Doing a half-load is a common occurrence here at Maison du Childfree Chic since there are only two of us: so much so that I hand-wash quite often. At any rate, I hope to have this puppy in my home within a week:
I think it will look just grand with the newly painted white cabinetry and future new countertop.
Plus, I’m just looking forward to a dishwasher which cleans dishes instead of whines and leaves spots on everything. It shouldn’t do that. I have a whole-house water softener, so I have no idea of why it started leaving spots on stuff.
