After a month-long ordeal, I finally have my shiny new dishwasher. The Sears installation people hauled Growly (the old dishwasher) out of here 30 minutes ago, and now I have this:
It’s so unbelievably quiet, and that’s a huge bonus. We might be able to listen to Pandora while running the dishwasher and actually hear the music. It’s also a huge improvement in the overall look of the kitchen. This is what Growly looked like with our freshly painted cabinets:
The old black dishwasher definitely seemed out of place with the new cabinets and and sleek glass shelving. Even worse, it looked like this at one time:
I can’t believe it took me 12 years to make all of these changes. Since hindsight is 20/20, I wonder why I didn’t paint those cabinets before I moved into the house.
I suppose I was just so excited to buy a house I didn’t think about it.
I’m a big believer in the simple pleasures in life, and one of my simple pleasures is coffee: espresso, to be exact. For a few years the Mister and I were spending far too much money at coffee shops. One day, we came to our senses and realized we could save a great deal of money if we invested in our own espresso machine. So, we bought this:
We bought that thing 3 years ago, and it’s still going strong. Also, it’s extremely convenient to stumble into the kitchen every morning and make our own Americanos or Lattes. As a bonus, it also dispenses hot water, which makes it very nice for a quick cup of tea.
I’m surprised it took us so long to buy one, actually, given how much coffee the Mister drinks in one day. I’m a 2-cup girl, but he’s more like a 6- to 8-cup guy!
