I’m interrupting my Midweek Martini feature to reveal my new crown moulding! I’m so excited about it. I think it makes the soffits in the kitchen look slightly better:

I don’t know if you can tell in the photo above, but I also finished the trim moulding around the beadboard behind the sink. You can barely see the unfinished, raw edge in the before photo.
I continued the crown moulding into the dining area. It gives the whole space a polished look.

It’s true; just a little bit of moulding can transform a space from “okay” to polished! I love it so much I’m thinking of adding it to the entire house, not just the dining/kitchen/living spaces. However, that project must wait. I need to refinish the entry door and hang a new chandelier in my foyer before I do anymore moulding. The front door is peeling and faded, and the 20-year-old brass chandelier has to go!

I really can’t believe how much a difference that made! Great job!!
It’s a spectacular transformation! It must feel so good now to put your feet up and admire your work. I even see my favorite coffee sitting next to the espresso machine — can I come over?
Ah, yes, the Illy, in both regular and decaf. You are welcome here at any time.
I was ecstatic to find Illy in my local grocery store. They don’t even sell it at Whole Paycheck, but Lowe’s Foods carries it. Weird.
Normally, I would grind my own beans, but it’s really difficult to find good decaf whole-bean coffee. I think the Illy is superior. But the Mister still grinds his own, hence the gigantic grinder next to the coffee machine.
Love love love crown moulding. Everywhere. All the time.
Our builder did something strange with the moulding in our entryway, though. There is this angular soffit under the stairs and he didn’t bother bringing the moulding quite all the way out to the edge of the soffit or even matching the angle where he did stop it. Why would you do that??
Hmm, it sounds like they took the easy route. I have the same situation at the top of my stairs, but my carpenter built a box on the angle so it would meet the moulding at the adjacent wall as well as sit flush with the ceiling.

Ah, interesting! Clever solution.
